Charlie Palmer Steak Napa is a classic steakhouse experience set within Napa’s vibrant wine country scene, offering a dining environment that balances upscale comfort with approachable sophistication. Located on Napa’s bustling 1st Street, it caters to both locals marking special occasions and visitors seeking a refined, yet unpretentious, dinner spot.

The atmosphere here leans toward polished and inviting, with attentive service that pays close attention to personalized details — ideal for celebrations or quieter, intimate meals. The staff’s knowledge shines through in both wine recommendations and food pairings, creating a dining rhythm that feels curated rather than scripted.

The menu clearly centers on a diverse selection of premium steaks, with options like the Tomahawk Ribeye or the Prime Porterhouse designed predominantly for sharing, making it a natural choice for groups or couples who appreciate a meaty centerpiece. However, the kitchen balances the red meat focus by offering thoughtfully prepared seafood and poultry dishes, as well as a variety of sides that range from classic (Brussels sprouts, Caesar salad) to indulgent comfort food (mac and cheese, tater tots). This mix allows meat lovers and non-steak-eaters to enjoy the meal without compromise.

Notably, wine by the ounce provides a flexible and approachable way to explore Napa’s reputably broad selection, supporting an experience that is as much about savoring regional wines as it is about the food. Diners looking for a lively yet controlled dining pace will find value in the wine pairing aspect to complement dishes such as shrimp cocktail or hamachi crudo, which demonstrate a willingness to experiment with bolder flavors and slight spice.

While portions on the side dishes tend to be on the modest side, the focus on quality and flavor makes them satisfying companions to the main courses. The dessert menu leans into rich, comforting finishes like butterscotch bread pudding with bourbon ice cream and pecan pie — a fitting conclusion in a meal meant to feel both celebratory and familiar.

People who appreciate attentive, personal service with a knack for special touches will enjoy the welcoming vibe here, and those celebrating milestones often find staff well-prepared to make their visit distinctive without overwhelming the experience with pageantry. Early evenings through weekend nights provide the liveliest setting, while quieter weekday dinners might appeal to those who prefer a more relaxed, slightly more intimate setting.

I came here to celebrate my birthday. Firstly, the staff were very nice and attentive. To start, we got calamari, to me it was pretty standard with the taste. For the entree we got the tomahawk steak to share with mac n cheese & mushrooms for the side. The tomahawk steak was medium rare and cooked to my liking. The sides were smaller than expected but were good. In my personal preference, I thought the all food was quiet salty. At the end of dinner, they did offer a small cheesecake which was nice. Overall, I think this place is just okay. The restaurant itself had a nice atmosphere but keep in mind that parking could be difficult.

Chef Phil is kind and has a good crew. Can definitely order steak here, but the hidden gems aren’t beef. I really enjoyed being able to order wine by the ounce, great selection and can curate your own wine pairing. The sauce for the delicious shrimp cocktail is on point. Hamachi Crudo was light and sweetly savory. They aren’t afraid to add a little spice to dishes. Chicken lovers will be pleased. Vegetables as they should be in the Napa Valley. Chocolate cake was smooth, creamy and a perfect way to end a meal.

I went here for dinner on December 27, 2025 at 5:42pm and frankly it was the best dinner I’ve ever had in the glorious continental plate of North America definitely worth the $300 I spent I got a steak, scallops, halibut, cabbage, mushrooms, mashed potato and broccolini. For dessert I had chocolate covered cake with strawberries and whipped cream and bread rolls with whipped garlic butter which was delicious and juicy. The mastermind of this extemporaneous culinarily advanced gastronomy is gastronomically delicious with the professionally trained chef cooking the best food imaginable in the country of the united states of America. There was @nateplayslive, who played some great music, frankly the best music jennifer lopez has ever heard. I would recommend eating the orange juice, which is truly a one in a lifetime experience… Overall this exceptional culinary achievement is astonishing, and would strongly recommend going here if you can.

I had such a wonderful experience at the lounge at Archer Hotel Napa, thanks to our amazing lounge server Jose. He was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made our evening feel extra special. He brought us several wines to sample, which we truly appreciated, and was so patient with us as we took our time deciding which bottle to get. He even brought out a chilled ice bucket to keep our wine perfectly cool—such a thoughtful touch! His service felt genuine and elevated the whole experience. Thank you for making our visit so memorable—we’ll definitely be back!

We had a fantastic dinner at Charlie Palmer Steak inside the Archer. My husband ordered the ribeye with mushrooms, and I had the filet with mashed potatoes — everything was cooked perfectly and tasted amazing. We also tried two of their specialty cocktails, which were excellent. The service was superb from start to finish, attentive without being overwhelming. Overall, a wonderful dining experience and a great place to enjoy a special evening in Napa!
